menu_book The Kahu's Guide to Biological Success

gavel KAHU PREP & SAFETY STANDARDS

Approved Biological Proteins: Lean Beef, Lamb, Turkey, Rabbit, Veal, Venison, and Heart. Heart meat is the clinical gold standard source of Taurine, essential for preventing biological cardiac expansion (DCM) and retinal degeneration.
WARNING: NO PORK. Strictly exclude all pork products from a Biological Fresh Diet. Pork is biologically inappropriate due to inflammatory fat profiles and risk of parasitic infection in raw feeding.
The Liver Hierarchy: Strictly prioritize Beef or Sheep Liver. These ruminant sources provide the Copper and Vitamin A density required for the mandatory 5% organ portion. Use chicken liver only as a temporary substitute if ruminant sources are unavailable.
Mandatory Vegetable Prep: All plant matter (Broccoli, Spinach, Carrots, Zucchini) must be steamed and pureed. Carnivores cannot digest raw plant cell walls; clinical prep "unlocks" these nutrients for absorption.
Bones Must be RAW: Never feed cooked bones. High heat turns biological bone into brittle "glass" shards that puncture the digestive tract. Raw bones are soft, digestible fuel.
Clinical Additives: Never add salt, onions, or human seasonings, as these cause oxidative damage to red blood cells. Do not use a microwave to defrost, as it can flash-cook small bone fragments.

timer

The 15-Minute Rule: To maintain biological hygiene and focus, remove any unfinished raw fuel after 15 minutes. No grazing permitted.

science THE VITAL SUPPLEMENT GUIDE

Omega-3 (Clinical Grade Fish Oil) The Why: Essential for reducing biological inflammation, supporting cognitive function, and maintaining heart health.
Dose: 1 pump (approx. 5ml) per 10kg body weight daily.

Kelp / Seaweed Powder The Why: A natural powerhouse of organic iodine, which acts as metabolic fuel for the thyroid and supports immune response.
Dose: Small pinch (1/8 tsp) for small pets; 1/4 tsp for large pets.

Biological Bone Broth The Why: Provides pure collagen and gelatin for joint integrity and hydration. Excellent for "healing the gut" in transitioning pets.
Dose: 1-2 tablespoons mixed into the bowl with warm water.

Natural Probiotics (Greek Yogurt/Kefir) The Why: Supports the gut microbiome where 70% of the immune system resides. Essential for pets with sensitive biological systems.
Dose: Follow specific CFU count for weight; generally 1 tsp per 10kg.

report_problem CLINICAL SAFETY ALERT: THE FORBIDDEN LIST

Chocolate & Cocoa Products The Hazard: Contains theobromine and caffeine. Unlike humans, pets cannot metabolize these stimulants, causing dangerous overstimulation of the heart and central nervous system.

Grapes, Raisins & Currants The Hazard: Contains an unknown toxin that causes sudden, irreversible biological kidney failure. Even a single grape is considered a clinical medical emergency.

Xylitol (Birch Sugar / Sweetener) The Hazard: Found in "sugar-free" peanut butter and gum. Causes a massive biological insulin spike, followed by life-threatening hypoglycemia and acute liver failure.

Cooked Bones (All Proteins) The Hazard: Unlike raw biological bones, cooking changes the bone structure into brittle "glass" shards. These can puncture the esophagus, stomach, or intestines.

medical_services EMERGENCY PROTOCOL

If ingestion is suspected: DO NOT WAIT for clinical symptoms to manifest. Contact your primary Veterinarian or the nearest 24-hour Emergency Hospital immediately.

Kahu Note: Notify your Happy Puppy Sitter only if a booking is approaching, so professional biological monitoring can be implemented.

published_with_changes THE 7-DAY BALANCED JOURNEY

To ensure biological success, every raw portion must be a balanced mini-meal. Transition slowly to allow the gut microbiome to adapt:

Days 1-2: 25% Balanced Raw | 75% Kibble
Days 3-4: 50% Balanced Raw | 50% Kibble
Days 5-6: 75% Balanced Raw | 25% Kibble
Day 7+: 100% Biological Fresh Diet (BFD)

timer THE 15-MINUTE BEHAVIORAL RULE

To maintain food safety and ensure the pet remains focused on their biological fuel, follow the clinical 15-minute rule:

Serve the Bowl: Place the meal down in a calm, distraction-free environment.
The Timer Starts: Allow exactly 15 minutes for the pet to finish.
Pick it Up: If the pet walks away or the timer ends, remove the bowl. No grazing is permitted.

The Why: Raw food should not sit at room temperature. Biologically, this teaches the pet that the Kahu provides fresh fuel at specific times, preventing finicky eating habits.

auto_fix_high UNDERSTANDING DETOX

Shedding, waxy ears, or goopy eyes are signs of biological healing as the body cleanses preservatives and synthetic additives.

visibility THE POO RULE

White/Crumbly: Too much bone. Loose/Soft: Transitioning too fast. Small/Dark/Firm: Biological goal achieved.
